Survey Results

In the last few weeks we've been bombarding you all with surveys in order to get feedback on what our members wish to see happen on a number of key issues for the Club. Here's where we are and what we've found out:

ENTERTAINMENT & SOCIAL EVENTS

Only 80 people responded to our Social Events Survey but the results were pretty clear cut.

Rock n' Roll acts, 70s & 80s Music and Comedy came out on top and the booking of Abba with 160 tickets available will test exactly how popular 70s/80s are!

65% voted for up to 4 events over the calendar year (a further 24% wanted more!) and 80% agreed they be over both the Summer and Winter seasons.

79% of respondants wanted the Cafe to be open in some form so food is available.

Finally £15-£20 was the most popular pricing band but 95% were willing to pay above £10. That should enable a good quality performance to be the norm.

WINTER BOWLING SURVEY

Over 230 responses here so a very good sample and we should get it right for most as a result if we react to the findings.

91% of people who responded and who play in the Winter Leagues considered roughly one game per team per week to be about right. Only 0.5% wanted less games, 8.5% wanted more.

68% of respondants consider it VITAL that we play each other the same number of times over the season to provide a proper Championship.

In order to achieve that, 15% said reduce matches; 85% said increase matches.

If more matches were to be required, 67% wanted them in a similar time slot to the league in question, on another day of the week.

If match numbers increased 80% of player would not be be bothered by additional fixtures.

LIKELY CHANGES FOR 2024/25

There are roughly 32-33 Weeks in the Winter Season. If we have a maximum of 12 teams in each Division in the main 3 leagues (Morning, Afternoon and Early Evening), the teams can play each other 3 times (33 fixtures). That keeps the number of matches at approx 1 per week as desired assuming we can fit in around Christmas and Easter.

Danny will be in touch with captains in the next few days to discuss any likely promotions and relegations OTHER THAN THOSE ALREADY EXPECTED.

That should enable us to achieve what the majority of our League membership wish to see.

We will continue to split the Teatime Aussie pairs Leagues only as Pre and Post Christmas championships - that was the most popular selection and they are also ideal for introducing newer members to league bowls at the time of the day they are used to attending coaching sessions.

CLUB KIT

The first round of voting for the new club kit has now closed and the combined results from the online votes and the paper voting slips have been counted.

A total of 240 members voted which is only 23% of the total membership!

Options “A” and “C” individually got more votes then “B”, “D”, “E” and “F” combined. “A” received 40% , “C” received 30% and “B, D, E, F” combined only received 27% with little
individual votes splitting “B, D, E, F”.

The original plan was to remove 3 designs with the least amount of votes and the 3 remaining would form the final vote.
Given the fact that options “A” and “C” received the vast majority of the votes, the panel have decided to just have these two (“A” and “C”) in the final vote.

Like the previous vote members will be able to cast their vote online by clicking the button below, alternatively voting slips are on the bar. If members need assistance with voting they
can talk to one of the panel members.

Panel Members – Richard Ashton, Andy Sellers, Chris Barber, Sheila Plaskitt, Collette Fawcett and Sue Johnson.

As both “A” and “C” are from the same manufacturer this now gives us the opportunity to progress negotiating the best price possible. Rest assured we are committed to making sure
the new kit is affordable for our members.

We appreciate all who voted in round 1 but now it’s time to wipe the slate clean and vote for your preferred design “A” or “C” every vote could make the difference so please cast
your vote now.

Final Voting will now close on the Thursday 23rd May. As from the first round 95% of the total votes where made in the first 4 days so having the voting open for two weeks has proven plenty of time.
