SUMMER LEAGUES 2025 - AN APPEAL
NEW SUMMER TURN UP & PLAY LEAGUE 2025
EVERY THURSDAY FROM 8th MAY at 2.30pm
To All Playing Members,
The Summer League numbers are dwindling year on year and we need to find a way to encourage our players who don't play outdoors to carry on through the Summer months.
Perhaps the commitment to a team is off putting to some who only wish to play as and when they feel like it?
Introducing our NEW TURN UP & PLAY FORMAT for SUMMER 2025.
In addition to all of the normal Triples, Pairs and Fun leagues, we want to try something new that may appeal to those who want something competitive, but don't want the full on League Team commitment.
Let me explain how this works:
1. Players can enter every week or occasional weeks to suit their Summer schedule
2. Turn up on a Thursday from 2pm and register at the bar on the Daily Player Sheet.
3. The playing format will depend on the total number of players in attendance (Pairs, Triples or Fours)
4. Playing partners are drawn from a hat each week.
5. Scores are recorded on the card as normal and each player will carry forward their score for that week to their accumulated Summer Season TOTAL.
6. At the end of the Season, the player with the highest cumulative shot score will win the League. (Obviously, the more weeks you attend, the bestter chance you have)
7. Regular attendees can nominate a 'Substitute Player' to play in their place a maximum of THREE TIMES during the season. Any shots scored by the nominated substitute will go towards the player's score in their absence. This gives people who go on holiday a chance to keep up in their absence.
8. After the final Thursday (4th September 2025) a Prize will be presented to the TOP 3 PLAYERS in the Turn Up & Play League.
If you are participating in this year's Summer Leagues we thank you for supporting the club throughout this period.
Captains can collect their 'Captain's Sheets' from the bar from Friday 4th APRIL and the summer programme will be visible online from that date.
As a footnote, we are hoping to launch a Monday Night 6.30 Pairs League this season and so far I have FIVE TEAMS entered.
Commitment is to Monday nights ONLY throughout the Summer Season.
To make this a viable proposition we need at least EIGHT teams and I have rostered fixtures to commence from Mon 12th May in the hope that we can persuade 3 more squads (of 3 or more players) to come forward and take a set of fixtures for one of these teams. It's not too late to choose your own team name.
