Saving Energy - Roll Up Bookings 2023-24

The club has experienced a vast increase in it's energy prices from July and we have concluded that we need to look at ways in which we can use the electricity more economically.

One such way is by being smarter when booking rinks.

It's worth noting first of all that once we switch on the LED lights above each bowling surface, it costs more to turn them off and back on again than it would to leave them on for a few hours - so we need to make best use of the lighting in the first session and the last session(s) of the day.

When members book roll up rinks in the first or last sessions, we will ask them to book their rink on the side of the bowls hall that is occupied with other matches if less than 4 rinks are in use. This will enable us to delay turning the lights on, on both sides of the club (am) and will allow us to turn off the lights without having to turn them back on again if less than 4 rinks are booked in last session(s) of the day.

The bar staff will be responsible for saving electricity so please respect any recommendations for rink bookings when phoning in or calling in on the off chance. Your help in this matter is most appreciated and will help keep costs down throughout a challenging winter season.
