Am I too young to play indoor bowls?
Absolutely not! At Lincoln indoor bowls club, we have bowlers from 8 years old to 93 years young. To encourage and get our Under 18s off to a good start we have our Lincoln IBC Junior Academy that you can join.
The Junior Academy is for under 18s and has a dedicated coach that will guide you through the skills and strategies needed to play indoor bowls. At the same time, you will enjoy the fun, friendship and excitement playing bowls can bring.
A lot of our younger members are encouraged to come along by their families and at LIBC we have numerous multi-generation families.
Jess and Sophie started playing 3 years ago when they came to the club with their grandad. They joined the Junior Academy and are now playing at County and National level. Sophie won the County under 14s in 2024 beating her sister and also won again in 2025. Sophie now plays for Lincoln IBC at National Level. Jess is also the youngest player in the Lincolnshire U18 squad. Both sisters play for Lincoln IBC teams, captained by their dad, in county competitions, making bowling a real family affair.
Thom, Kelsie and Jake who play for Lincolnshire in the U18s squad, also come from the academy. Jake additionally, trialled for the U18 England Squad and successfully gained a position to represent England internationally.
Lincoln IBC are so incredibly proud of all our young players and their families. We love having our younger members around and the energy, enthusiasm and competitiveness they bring. If you would like to join our junior academy, or just come and have a look, the academy is on Saturday mornings between 8.30am and 10.30am.
So, for those, that thought bowls was only for the more mature generation, then now you know. Indoor bowls is for everyone.
